1) What inspired you to begin building and creating your business?

I’m deeply concerned about the health of our planet. I’m also concerned at how much quicker we need to change the way we live and consume on our planet. However, people also need and deserve easier access to make those changes. I couldn’t stand how difficult it was to shop sustainably. We cannot expect people to compromise when it comes to living a more sustainable lifestyle. That’s what inspired me to start. I want to help solve our sustainability problem.

2) How do you feel it serves the community and your consumers?

EarthHero exists to make shopping sustainable EASY! In fact, our mission is to make sustainable shopping so easy, everyone does it! We offer a dedicated online marketplace that curates “best-in-class” eco-friendly products across a wide selection of everyday consumer lifestyle categories. We educate, celebrate, and also provide clear, vetted, high quality, eco-friendly brands that make products with the Earth’s best interest in mind.

3) How do you see your business as an integral part of a larger healing revolution both locally and globally?

Our planet desperately needs help. A consumption paradigm shift is needed. We need to move away from the materialistic paradigm of “more is better, bigger is better, never enough” to a more mindful approach. One where every time we buy something, we consciously do it. As more people consume sustainably, our planet can begin to heal.

EarthHero is on a quest to help make sustainable, earth-friendly commerce the new normal. We inspire conscious commerce by offering trusted, high quality goods that create authentic positive impact. Together, we aim to learn, share, and celebrate a healthier planet. To find out more visit www.earthhero.com

Black Women’s Alliance

Black Women’s Alliance

1) What inspired you to begin building and creating your business?

When I moved to Colorado in 2009, I landed in Boulder and one of the first things I looked for was community and a sense of belonging. I joined a few women’s groups that impressed me with their support and nurturing of each other as individuals and entrepreneurs.

Even as there was so much I admired about them, I was nearly always the only Black woman in the room. I realized how deeply I’d been missing a reflection of myself in the eyes of other women, particularly when it came to feeling safe, seen, and validated in an environment of nonjudgment and permission to vent, breathe, and simply be with each other.

I founded Black Women’s Alliance as a means to connect, to share our stories, to deepen our bonds, to renew our sense of adventure–to heal—in whatever shape it takes.

2) How do you feel it serves the community and your consumers?

Black Women’s Alliance serves the community one sister at a time. Being part of a healing initiative like BWA means that as we heal, shedding the baggage and trauma that impacts us on a daily basis, our relationships transform, as well. The way we show up begins to shift and ripples out to everyone we encounter–personally, professionally, and by extension, globally.

Our events are centered around cultivating a spirit of sisterhood and growth, from the inside out. Whether that looks like nature outings in the backcountry, healing retreats, or lecture-based workshops, we serve the wholeness of Black women, bearing witness to the diversity of our full experience and possibility.

3) How do you see your business as an integral part of a larger healing revolution both locally and globally?

In the spirit of true alliance BWA also fosters collaborative partnerships with organizations and businesses that share our mission of creating authentic community, engaging in real dialogue and engagement, and lifting each other as we climb. Because as we heal ourselves, we heal the world.

Rebellion

REBELLION
www.rebellionlove.com

1) What inspired you to begin building and creating your business?

REBELLION is inspired by the two core concepts of Bodhiciita and Tikkun Olam. The philosophy behind both of those ideas is vast, but what it boils down to is serving people, reducing suffering, and repairing the world. We believe that the world needs regenerative change, and that change begins through a personal rebellion against the conditioning that maintains any destructive status quo.

2) How do you feel it serves the community and your consumers?

We are blessed to be able to see the benefit we offer to people in real time. At any of our workshops and retreats, we see people transform profoundly into deeper self love, strong human connection, courageous goals, and clear steps forward in their lives. We are about to launch a podcast, Voices of Rebellion, through which we are excited to help even more people to see the kind of life that is possible for us as individuals, and for us as a species.

3) How do you see your business as an integral part of a larger healing revolution both locally and globally?

We know that healing can only happen when enough cells within an organism register that something isn’t right. Then the whole body mobilizes to regenerate toward a new equilibrium, ideally something even more healthy than it ever was before. That is how all living systems work, and what is called for on our planet right now. REBELLION is a wake up call, but instead of aggression and destruction of old systems, we are calling for the creation of new systems to make the old system obsolete. When individuals awaken to the truth that they can determine the course of their lives, and that they can thrive best when motivated by compassion, integrity, and service, the entire system can regenerate and heal so much more effectively. That is the role of REBELLION.

Mindful Market

Mindful Market

1) What inspired you to begin building and creating your business?

I was certified in energy work about 17 years ago. I experienced a powerful moment of truth which led to the creation of a pretty progressive holistic product. I didn’t have much money for marketing or to build a nice website. I tried to list the product on some of the popular platforms at the time (Ebay, Etsy, Storenvy, Amazon etc.). Nobody was searching for what I had to offer. I was a misfit. I had an aha moment and decided to build the platform that would serve other “misfits” who might be under-capitalized and could use some business acumen. I want to efficiently serve those who make the world a better place!

2) How do you feel it serves the community and your consumers?

Mindful Market is a community-driven platform. We take no commission on sales. Our algorithms drive awesome conscious consumers (our community) to local stores in their neighborhood. Our community can share the love, write reviews and rate all the shops on the platform. We will be launching live real soon, so stay tuned! We plan on donating a portion of sales to local and global initiatives every month. We want to help small conscious based businesses grow and succeed any way we can. Our consumers can now shop by over 180 values that feel dear to their heart (organic, eco-friendly, empowers women, vegan etc.).

3) How do you see your business as an integral part of a larger healing revolution both locally and globally?

Mindful Market will have a massive impact (sans the ego) and help expedite a larger healing revolution. We not only promote awesome products that enrich well-being, but can’t wait to increase exposure for alternative medicine practitioners (Reiki, Acupuncture, Cranial Sacral, Ayurveda etc). At launch, practitioners from the USA and Canada can set up a shop. We plan to expand more globally as quickly as the universe intends

Mindful Market is your one-stop shop for products and services that help you live your best life!  Our values-based shopping options give you access to hundreds of filters to find exactly what you’re looking for. And, it’s not just about products, but local services, too. Every time you click “buy now,” you not only take control of your well-being, but you support the products and services that align with what’s most important to you. With each purchase, review or rating, you participate in creating a like-minded community.

At Mindful Market we believe shopping can be an enjoyable, meaningful and mindful act. We bring together everything you need (from crystals to chiropractors to coconut oil and beyond) to live a healthy and happy life, making shopping easier, faster, and more values-aligned. Mindful Market lets you spend less time searching and more time living! It’s your one-stop shop to find everything you need to live your best life. The Spice & Tea Exchange

The Spice & Tea Exchange
1634 Miner Street | Idaho Springs, CO 80452

Idaho Springs is a town with many wonderful small businesses and an emphasis on cultivating a conscious community. The Spice & Tea Exchange is an excellent example of a conscious business that is focused on serving a greater purpose for its customers and its community. We spoke with owner Sadie Peak, who opened the shop in August 2016, about her vision for her business in Idaho Springs.

1) What inspired you to begin building and creating your business?

The desire to help people in the most effective way possible. I realized that my passion has always been to help heal and help people find solutions for their lives. I wanted to create a business that allowed us to reach the most people and to do it in an atmosphere that helped people interact with their own health and wellness in an approachable way.

2) How do you feel it serves the community and your consumers?

I think it’s really important for people to participate in their own wellness. Cooking for yourselves is key and being able to do it with healthy ingredients is important, especially in a place like Idaho Springs where such things aren’t always easy to get your hands on. Helping provide those tools, skills, and those services to the people in Idaho Springs has always been very important. We have a lot of veterans and elderly people in our community, so to be able to give back to them like this is very important.

3) How do you see your business as an integral part of a larger healing revolution both locally and globally?

I think that our mission is creating and sharing a more flavorful life. That speaks to wellness, and that speaks to participating in your own wellness by cooking for yourself and having great tea that is good for you. It’s taking action that moves you toward healing and creating a happy life for yourself and your family.
